The Second Caribbean Regional Trialogue on Integrated Approaches for Sustainable Ecosystem Management, was hosted by the Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services Network (BES-Net), UNDP TT, the GEF Small Grants Programme (GEF-SGP), and the TT Field Naturalists’ Club and held in Port of Spain. The event was convened with the support and participation of the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago (GoRTT). BES-Net builds capacity and commitment for biodiversity action by translating Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) products into practical conservation outcomes. The Trialogue provided a collaborative platform for scientists, policymakers, and practitioners to address critical biodiversity issues. The discussions focused on two IPBES assessments: the Nexus Assessment, which highlights how biodiversity underpins clean water, nutritious food, public health, and climate stability, and the Transformative Change Assessment, which outlines the shifts in policies, institutions, and societal values needed for lasting change. Participants from seven Caribbean countries, including Antigua and Barbuda, Cuba, Dominica, the Dominican Republic, Grenada, Guyana, and Trinidad and Tobago, engaged across government, research, Indigenous and local knowledge, civil society, and private sectors, reflecting on regional ecological challenges and developing integrated solutions informed by science, policy, and practice.
